For inquiries regarding official court documents and records, including land and title documentation, please call the Lincoln County Registry of Deeds at 207-882-7341 or the Registry of Probate at 207-882-7392. The Lincoln County Historical Association (LCHA) was founded in 1954 by noted local artist Mildred Burrage to collect, preserve and interpret the history of Lincoln County, which once extended from Cumberland County in the south all the way to the Canadian border. Key to our mission are the preservation and restoration of the Pownalborough Court House, built in 1761, and the 1811 Lincoln County Museum & Old Jail in Wiscasset. Today, both properties are preserved and managed by LCHA as museums, open to the public during the summer months or by appointment.
