The Lincoln County Historical Association’s Education Outreach Program opens windows into the past. Education staff is dedicated to sharing Lincoln County’s rich history with students. Education programming allows students to appreciate the past and enhances their understanding of the Lincoln County community in which they live.
The Lincoln County Historical Association is the proud steward of three historic sites: the 1754 Chapman-Hall House, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House, and the 1811 Old Jail and attached Jailer’s House. The Education Department utilizes these buildings to provide students with immersive historical experiences, offering interesting and interactive programming for all grade levels.
The Education Department also offers in-school presentations, lesson-plan resources, hands-on teaching tools, field trips, and resource booklets for teachers.

Please see the 2025-2026 Education Outreach Program Catalog for more information about the Education Department’s many offerings and resources. All Education Department resources employ an interdisciplinary approach to learning. Presentations and instructional materials can be adapted to address the learning needs of students from elementary school through high school. Maine Learning Results Standards (MLRS) and Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are noted in the descriptions to assist with meeting curriculum requirements.
