On Sunday, August 2, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about an often overlooked yet significant moment in history: the signing of the Declaration of Independence. While the document was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, it is believed that most signers added their names to the Declaration on August 2, 1776, nearly a month after its adoption. This date is often overshadowed by the better-known July 4 celebration. Visitors to the Chapman-Hall House on August 2nd will help commemorate the date and learn more about the story of the document’s adoption.
