Docent College

Are you a history buff? Do you love old houses? Have you always wanted to be a tour guide at a historic property but didn’t know how to start? You’re in luck!

Join Lincoln County Historical Association for Docent College, a short program of classes designed to teach the basics of being a volunteer docent for any or all of our historic properties: the Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the Old Jail in Wiscasset, and the Pownalborough Court House in Dresden. 

Docent College covers both the fundamentals of providing a top notch tour and a comprehensive introduction to our the three LCHA properties with our seasoned docents and members of our Collections Committee. With all of this knowledge under your belt, you’ll be ready to volunteer at our wonderful properties and share your love of history with summer visitors. Docent College is free to attend.
